About

Moai By M is a collection of bespoke clay sculptures. Each piece is individually formed without molds or replication, resulting in singular works defined by subtle asymmetry, restraint, and personalities that reveal themselves as the clay takes shape.

The work draws a quiet influence from the Moai of Rapa Nui—monolithic figures associated with permanence and stillness—reinterpreted through a minimalist lens. Each piece echoes that sense of quiet watchfulness and character, while remaining distinctly individual and human in expression.

All sculptures are bisque fired only preserving a matte, porous surface that emphasizes the natural qualities of the clay. The absence of glaze allows for an earthy texture, reinforcing a raw and grounded aesthetic.

The artist behind Moai By M began working with clay in childhood, developing an early familiarity with the material through playful experimentation. Over time, this evolved into a sustained artistic practice focused on form and function. The work also reflects the artist’s travels and exposure to diverse cultures and traditions.

Moai By M is based in New York City. Batches are produced in limited quantities.
